BERNARDS — A Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center outpatient treatment facility was expected to open today in the Mountain View Corporate Center.
The 85,000 square-foot facility incorporates therapeutic design and advanced cancer care services, said Christine Hickey, a Sloan-Kettering spokeswoman. The outpatient center is in the Basking Ridge section of the township, off Interstate 78’s Exit 33, or Martinsville Road.
Abe Lopman, executive director of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center’s Regional Care Network, said about 17 percent of Memorial Sloan-Kettering’s patients live in New Jersey. Ground for the new center was broken about a year ago.
Cancer care programs at Sloan-Kettering’s facilities in Dover and Denville have moved to the new $72.5 million Basking Ridge facility, which also has the capability to nearly double in size, according to a news release.
The Basking Ridge facility employs 100 people, including 15 physicians, all of whom have the same training and expertise as doctors at Sloan-Kettering’s world-renown Manhattan location, Hickey said. The Basking Ridge center is expected to accommodate 200 outpatient visits daily.
