The top five targeted cancers, according to the latest news are melanoma, breast, lung, prostate, and colorectal cancer. At present there are 600 clinical trials going on which involves 340 immunotherapy drugs in around 200 companies. All working for one mission, that is, the study to attempt the treatment for all cancers.
There are around 40 different types of cancers on which the research is going on. The recent news makers have been the antibody studies followed closely by the cancer treating vaccines. The latest hit was the approval of Gardasil, the drug used to treat cervical cancer. Future ascertains the discovery of some strong antigens and effective immunomodulators.
